Problem:
I've had minor problems with booting my pc since purchase. However recently, in order to boot the PC I've had to short circuit it, and afterwards pressing the power button would boot the pc again. This would only be temporary as after a while I would have to short circuit it again.

Few days ago, I wasn't able to boot my PC and whenever it works (whether just pressing the power button or short-circuiting it) it turns on for around half a second, then it turns off again.

Weeks prior to this problem, my PC would start to randomly shut down in the middle of doing work etc.

I don't have the necessary equipment to test which part is faulty. I can always bring it to the store but do you guys have any ideas what might be wrong?

I've browsed the forums but every single case seems to be slightly divergent.

Hello... 1) re-connect/inspect your MB main PS connector...

2) as a 'simple test" hold your case Power Button and slightly press down on that Large connector... that is where the PS start circuit gets to your "short-Pwr on" pins, on the MB... Typically the Green wire and a Black one...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_supply_unit_(computer)

3) you could have a BAD MB trace if the MB was flexed too far during the install of this Large connector...

4) Get a multi-meter or have the PS voltages checked.

5) Have you tried testing ON-OFF operation after the PS is removed each time from wall outlet for ~3 mins?
