How can I use the unallocated space on my new hard drive?

Hi,

So I recently purchased a new hard drive, 2TB, to replace my current, 1TB one. I plugged it all in properly etc, I then cloned the old disk onto the new one using the Macrium Reflect tool.

The problem is that only 1TB/930gb is available to be used on the new drive and when I attempt to expand it under the 'computer management' an error comes up saying there's not enough space.

The screenshot of computer management: https://gyazo.com/dacfec1f2e33f5e603f663a863645be2 (Disk 1 is the new one)

Thanks for reading!

Solution
you can make a new partition in the unallocated space. the cloning software copied the drive exactly. you cannot resize the partition because they are separated by the recovery partition. when resizing the partition the partition must be next to the free space.

disk manager cannot move the recovery partition to the end of the drive, then merge the free space with the active partition. this is what needs to be done. programs like minitool partition wizard or partition magic can though

You can rather easily achieve your objective.

You can re:clone the contents of your 1 TB HDD to the 2 TB HDD on a partition-by-partition basis. (I'm pretty sure Macrium can handle this process; I use the Casper disk-cloning program (a commercial program) that does).

So you would first clone the 450 MB partition to the 2 TB HDD and then clone the C: partition. (There would be no need to clone the 101 MB unallocated partition).

I can't remember whether Macrium will utilize the entire remaining disk-space of the 2 TB HDD to accommodate the 930.97 GB contents of the cloned C: partition. But at worse, a 930.97 partition will be created by the Macrium program with the remaining disk-space unallocated. And I assume you're aware of using Disk Management to "Extend Volume" so that the entire unallocated disk-space will be incorporated with the cloned C: partition.
