Hello everybody

I've only made a custom pc once but that was from scratch. Now I bought a new card and surely enough I thought it would be simple... I basically tried putting the card in and boot up the system only to find out i get a black screen with a white block (old cursor thing) and on the right bottom corner there is "B2" written.

Now I've been reading up on how to resolve this. I've disabled the driver of my previous GPU and tried booting my system up then with the new card, that failed.
Now I'm trying to update my BIOS. Which for some reason I'm getting really confused and it's not working with a program called "MSI live update 6", keeps telling me to install Intel ME drivers even though i did...

I really need help with this. I bought a new GPU only for it to catch dust right now in the box... in case the card is bad, as in it broke somehow, I need to know now so I can ship it back.

Here are my current system specs:
Processor: Intel I7 3770k
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Z77A-GD65
RAM: 16 GB
SSD: Samsung 830 series (238 GB )
HDD: 2x Samsung HD103SJ (1 TB )
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 680 (2 GB VRAM)
PSU: Corsair AX 850
OS: Windows 7 64 bit (Home)

Fast replies and informative replied would be greatly appreciated, I'm apparently very very bad at this.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Solution
Ok so this is what happened because of my new job and everything, I did not have the time to actually call MSI services because they end services as soon as I stop working and if I would call from work I would obviously not be able to do anything with my computer if they ask me to try something. First of all the service was either very rude or some lines were unreachable/unresponsive. Every time they asked me is it about an all in on e pc or components they tell me I got to get in contact with the shop I bought it at and they don't know anything about my problem either nor are they responsible for MSI BIOS. Long story short they kept redirecting me everywhere (I called up to 4 different country lines, yes I speak 4 languages) and all of...

If so that would suck but It would be good in some degree... I was honestly already looking to buy the other parts to build a brand new pc... I rather wait another year or 2-3 until I build an entire new rig. What I found was that I needed to update my BIOS which isn't working either for some reason. I'm just really annoyed at this whole situation, I googled a lot and tried so many fixes but nothing helped so far. Could someone confirm that I need win 10 instead of 7? I was just for the most part always worried about compatibility with games.. Thanks for the quick reply!

Edit: I installed win 10 and my card still doesn't work... I really need someone to help me on this. I already wasted so much of my free time on this and it never works out.

That's for booting, isn't it? I was aware of that, but are drivers on 7 an issue at startup?

I've tried several things and nothing helps and I'm getting very annoyed with this situation. I was so looking forward to the day I got this GPU in my hands so I could finally play all my games at max resolution including my heavily modded Skyrim.
Things I've tried...
I tried disabling current GTX 680 drivers, starting pc up in safe mode, which works, then I try to boot it up WITH the card installed with the hdmi cable in the motherboard. No signal whatsoever. Whenever I boot up with the card installed with the HDMI cable in the GPU. I get a black screen with a blank cursor with "B2" in the bottom right corner. This happens on both windows 10 and 7.. I've already stated what motherboard I have and I've checked the BIOS and I've got version V10.0. Live Update 6 from MSI doesn't work to update my BIOS, it keeps telling me to install Intel ME drivers, which I did but when I reboot it keeps telling me to install it over and over and over. I tried the version some people wrote on other posts on other websites and I tried the latest version. Nothing works. Then I read something about "flashing", booting from a USB stick and everything which apparently can brick my motherboard in the process. Now this idea of breaking my computer over trying to use my GTX 1070 from MSI is blowing my mind... I tried different PCI slots too, same results.
I really Need help with this.. I'm not really AGAINST buying an entire new PC. But the whole point of me buying the gtx 1070 is that I can play the games I bought on 1440p, then when (maybe) the 1080TI or titan comes out then I will buy that along with an entire new rig built around it. Now as far as I see the differences between for example 980 and 980ti was like 8-9 months every time? This was basically my plan to get this and after 1 or 2 years switch and make the pc as "future proof" as possible for at least 4 years just like my current system lasted me.
Just a thought, would reformatting my whole system work?
Thanks for the help anyways guys, appreciate it.

I would assume that's for general usage as well, or do you think that someone should boot up and THEN take the card out or something?

Have you tried using the DVI port or trying the card in another rig?

I meant a card that's newer than Windows is could cause a conflict, couldn't it?

Well I sadly don't have the option to try the card in another rig because I'm the only one with a desktop at this house. Concerning the DVI port I don't think I've tried it yet but I don't think I have that cable lying around. I'll take a look at it. If I find it I'll try booting it up again with the card installed via DVI.
I have upgraded by the way to windows 10 and hoping that it would solve some issues but I was sadly disappointed as the results were the same.

EDIT: Sadly I don't have this cable. If you are almost certain this could help I could go buy it hopefully tomorrow... What do you think?

Why? Every card since 2009 (IIRC) has been newer than W7 and yet the vast majority work just fine and dandy.

I'm not certain of it but I think it's worth giving it a go.

Well I bought the cable and again this solution doesn't work either... I have had this card for a few days now collecting dust... I would appreciate if someone figured out what's wrong... It's so annoying having this card available and not being able to use it. :(

I tried to update BIOS but that's actually one of the only solutions I couldn't fully 'execute' so to speak as it doesn't work for me for some reason. When I use an application that does it it says (and I can only find one most current BIOS version) that it is 32 bit version and I got 64 bit and obviously that doesn't work. Then there is Live Update 6 and if I try updating BIOS there then it keeps telling me install "Intel ME drivers", which I did but it keeps telling me to install it. And as a 3rd way I read about USB flashing or something. Now I'm not too keen on doing that as I saw a lot of comments saying they 'bricked' their mobos which I guess they mean they broke it.
Could you perhaps explain to me how to do this safely? I'd be gladly updating the BIOS as honestly, this is my last resort and I think it's BIOS related problems too.
I'd greatly appreciate it and would be grateful. Thanks in advance!
PS: I'm sorry I'm probably a big newb at PC's I just want to be sure.

32-bit will work on a 64-bit machine.

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit are confusing that way... Instead, I think of it in terms of the instruction sets. 32-bit is the x86 instruction set within a CPU, 64-bit is the x86-64 instruction set within a CPU. Because x86-64 still contains the x86 instruction set, you can run 32-bit applications on a 64-bit machine. This is why 64-bit versions of Windows have a Program Files folder and a Program Files (x86) folder. The x86 folder is where 32-bit applications install to and run from.

Alright well I downloaded the BIOS from the manufacturers website (MSI) and the there were 3 files in the file, one of them being the .exe file basically and it doesn't work either.. It says 'this app can't run on your PC'. What do I do... I feel like I'm missing something obvious and I'm probably being dumb.

I'm thinking buying a whole new system and I do not think I will buy another hardware component from MSI ever again. Client service was terrible, not to mention at the end of the day, they still didn't help me nor did they listen to my problem.
So I guess for anyone who has the same similar problem and if you have the same situation I am in, save yourself the time and the frustration and just buy an entire new system because MSI won't help you with BIOS problems and I believe the good people on this website have tried their best to help me to the best of their abilities.
Thank you for the help everyone and have a nice day.
