Transfer data from an external HDD to a new laptop

I have a dead laptop, with a ATA laptop drive. I need a converter to connect it to a new laptop, so I can pull the data.

Drive: Hitachi DK23EA-30

I have already 2 SATAs adapter cables and a SATA StarTech dock but, of course, this HDD doesn't fit on them.

Please, I would appreciate if someone can tell me about an adapter cable that fits in this HDD and/or where I can get it.

Thank you.

    Hey there, Tino1948.

The reason for the drive not to fit in that dock station is because it uses a completely different interface, thus it can't be connected via a SATA connection. You should look for PATA to USB adapter in order to be able to connect it to a USB port.

    Hope that helps.

    Ta, Boogieman.

Actually I already found a coupling for one of the adapter cables and will arrive next week. I'll let you know how the thing goes, of course, to set the post as solved.

    Talk to you later.
