I got access to 2 PC's. A 6 core AMD and 8 Core AMD. My thoughts are to make the 8 core amd the workstation running an nvidia quadro m4000 for maya, cinema 4d, adobe creative cloud apps, etc. The 6 core would be the gaming machine with an asus strix gtx 1080 OC ( if they ever get in stock on newegg again ). I know maya is GPU and cinema 4d is CPU rendering.

Is that a good way of doing it or would it be better to just put both cards in the 8 core machine or what?

I also thought of doing maybe an intel MB with like a intel 5820 or 5960 or whatever the 6 core cpu is from intel. Im not much of an intel person as due to price. I've always been an AMD man and will be but i know or have heard that intel is better when it comes to 3d stuff etc. If i did intel i couldn't afford everything thing now but i have around $1200 - $1400 to work with as of this moment.

Any suggestions on the way it should be done and/or what i should get now and later would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

If i did intel i dont know what would be the best board for that. Im not looking for one thats like $500+ just for the board though. Im sure most any board would suffice but keep in mind im more of an asus man with MB's. Also was looking at getting around 32 - 64gb of ram since it would be like $600 for 128gb of ram unless i got the cheaper $300+ versions.

What do you guys/girls think?

I already have a 850-860watt power supply that i think should work for intel boards as well not sure and a Cooler master haf 932 amd edition case with like (3) 230mm fans.

These are just a few combos on newegg that i saw. If theres something better that may work then let me know for around the same price.

Well i may use the 8 core for gaming rig and go intel for editing. I was looking at the combo links from newegg with the 5820 but im not familiar with the intel line as to whats good and whats not and which Mobo to get. Or is good. hopefully someone will know.

yea the 6800k is really expensive. Thats why i was kinda looking at a 5820. If i did the 6800k i would only be able to afford something like 16 ( maybe 32gb ) ram, plus something like an MSI x99 Mobo for lie $260 or what ever that board cost i was looking at.

Someone on a different forum is saying the 5820k is better than the 6800k or 6850k. is that true? i know the 5820k is cheaper but thats not what he is saying its better than it for. one reason is he says the 5820k is better when over clocked. My question is i dont overclock so wouldnt the 5820k over clocked be close to the 6800k or 6850k?

The one thing im not looking for is people that are biased towards AMD. I do like amd due to them being cheaper for sure. AS i am an AMD fan. I know AMD and intel both have their pros and cons in different departments but i just wanna make sure that being said that im getting something that will last and do what i want it to do hands down better than any of them at stock. I know alot of gamers like to overclock and they are huge overclock enthusiasts but im just not the overclock type of person. But i also want something thats gonna last longer and be easily upgradeable later without having to go and buyalot of stuff to just upgrade one component.

Some of the combos i was looking at.

that was a few of the systems i was looking at as far as newegg combos.

I just wanna make sure im getting my moneys worth and that its been tested etc and not just something thats being said cause someone is biased towards something else. Please dont think im being rude or mean cause im not. I do appreciate your comments and welcome your comments and all. I just hear conflicting info across the board.
