I am planing to buy a new water cooler for my fx6300 and I was wondering what socket it has and carsair h100i being the most popular cooler now in the market is it compatible with my CPU?

& also the quality of your motherboard.
I'd also argue spending more on a h100i then your CPU cost in the first place is overkill & a waste of money UNLESS you have a very good 8 phase motherboard & intend (in a hobbyist aspect) to try & push your CPU to close to 5ghz.
