Dear smarter people,
Bare with me, the post is medium sized, but I must give lots of detail for accurate help.
I wanted a cheap fast computer that I could buy, not build, so I did some digging on amazon and bought this:
Dell Optiplex 960 sff ($130)
Windows 10 (free MS office)
(Reading off the system>about)
Version 1511
Intel core2 duo cpu e8500 @ 3.16GHz
3.16GHz
8GB RAM (7.84 usable)
64 bit OS x64-based
If I am correct, it has a 230w PSU

I belive this was quite a good deal, but there is one problem... graphics power. Because of this, I will need a graphics card. For a good one, I would need a better power supply, so my brain yelled EVGA 500w. The B1 is around $50, and it has a 4.5/5 rating. Now what I want to know is if it has the correct cords and plugs for my computer, and then to phase two...

Because I am inferior but not new to the PC master race, I must ask this: what would be the best graphics card under these conditions? :
1.I like gddr5
2.plenty of RAM please?
3.Must not surpass the PSU limits
4.$150 budget
RAM isnt much of a problem, but i want the best graphics possible, and its good to have instead of wanting.
I must let you know that obviously my computer shell is probably too small for the PSU and graphics card, but I am willing to CUT away at the case and frame to make it fit. I might even just build a box for it, to keep it safe.
Size limits dont exist, all the advice helps.

To collect the questions,
Would the PSU I am getting work cablewise and pluginwise?
-and-
What is the best graphics card under $150 without exceeding PSU power?

If you know of a good power supply that is better than mine and will work,
I have a $50 budget on that.

Keep your eye out for a sale on a GTX 950 or GTX 960. They may drop down to your price range. These approach the max your CPU could handle to be honest.
Otherwise a 750ti is your best bet.

Regarding the PSU having the correct connections - it will.
As far as the size concern, it just isn't even going to come close to fitting.
That is a Small Form Factor PC. You'd need to look into an SFX powersupply i *think* that would fit, but maybe not.

The thing is actually half height too, so a standard 750ti wouldn't fit either.

I know you say you're willing to cut the case, but this isn't some slight modding to make it fit - the GPU and PSU combined will be larger than your entire case.

(this post is outdated)
Thank you greens. I already bought the PSU, and it's on its way here. Today I tore the computer up to get the current PSU out, and decided to leave the motherboard in the case/frame, but i took the opportunity to "personalize" it. I removed everything... not physically touching the motherboard (cords didnt count)... from the case/frame, and put the whole gory mess in a short big tub.(photo pending) when I get the PSU in a few days, I can set it just outside of the gory mess of robot bits, plug it in, and play Kerbal Space Program on a literal overpowered computer... but I'll have to still save up for the gtx 960.

Oh and the side panel is staying off. Need breathing, space, and I have a fan that blows the dust away. Not a PC fan.

I got an EVGA PSU a long time ago, but it did not have a mini ATX cable. I had to return it, but I will get this instead...

Thanks for the graphics card suggestion, but will it run Arma 3 well?
