Does it matter about the wattage when looking for a new processor?

I'm looking for a new processor and I have a Pegatron Carmel motherboard with chipset intel h61. My old processor is a Intel Pentium G620 and I'm looking to upgrade to something like the Intel Core i5-2500 but theres a TDP(wattage) difference of 30w. Will this be a problem?

Then you're going to run into one of two scenarios:
1) it won't work; it will register it as an unsupported CPU, and will fail to POST.
2) it will work; but it will put extra strain on VRM and MOSFETs as the power required by the CPU is more than the motherboard was intended to provide.

It says on the page that it supports processor upgrades, Core i5-2xxx 65W of that type. http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02879731. I was just wondering if that 65W mattered.
