PC won't turn on after being unplugged

So last night I put my Desktop into sleepmode like I usually do. When I wake up and go to wake it from sleepmode however it doesn't want to. I held down the power button for 5,10,20 seconds and nothing. The reset button didn't work either. (it normally does in this scenario.) So I decided to unplug the PSU cable from my pc as that usually works when I can't get anything else to work. I've unplugged it like this many times before even with the pc running and it would boot up fine. This time it won't do anything, completely silent. None of my LEDs light up, no fans spinning either. I checked to make sure all my PSU cables on my mobo were plugged in correctly and they were. Tried to power it on, still dead. I even tried different AC outlets to see if it was a power deficency and it still didn't do the trick. I took out the ram to see if that was blocking powering on too, nope. My only guesses as to whats wrong is that maybe 1) the PSU died because my pc was on carpet and it couldn't get enough airflow. (its been like that since January 2016 and no problems so I'm not too sure about that one.) 2) I shorted out something when unplugging itfrom the wall. (I've done it before and it hasn't caused anything bad.) or 3) Either my PSU or motherboard is shot. I can try shortening the wires on the 20+4, but I want to see if there are any other fixes instead. Thanks.

Solution
There's no miracles, start changing parts with known good ones starting with PSU. Even if PSU starts by connecting Green and black wires is not a proof all is well with it.
P.S. You can also disconnect front start button from MB and short those two contacts for a second.

I'll change my PSU out to begin, and if it still doesn't work I'll get a new mobo to see if that fixes it as well. Thanks for the info.
