Greetings, I am in need of a solid answer, due to google results only confusing me further. Also I need to put my mind at rest because I have been losing sleep over this question for a year now.

Is my system capable of running this bad-ass game at medium settings or above with no major issues?

SPECS

CPU - Intel Core i5-4460 LGA 1150
CPU Cooler - Stock Cooler
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC Gaming ACX 2.0+ Cooling Graphics Card
HDD - Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
PSU - XFX 650W TS SERIES FULL WIRED 80+ BRONZE PSU
Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB RAM (Two sticks)
Chassis - Thermaltake Versa H22 CA-1B3-00M1NN-00 Mid-tower Computer Chassis
Motherboard - MSI Gaming Intel Z97 LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard (Z97 Gaming 5)

Without a resolution, that's a hard question to answer. 51 fps at highest settings seems satisfactory

All video card results are obtained on this exact system with exactly the same configuration.
All games are set to their highest quality setting unless indicated otherwise.
AA and AF are applied via in-game settings, not via the driver's control panel.

What´s the advantage of buying from GoG? I know it is the cheapest store to buy from on G2A, but my brother says it´s store is overly complex.

Yes your system will run Witcher 3 at 1080p with reduced settings.

I can run Witcher 3 with the following
i5-2500k - Stock clocks (stock cooler at the moment)
GTX 670 (heavily reduced settings @ around 40fps...)
16GB of DDR3 1600 RAM
550W G2 PSU
2x 500GB HDD RAID 0
256GB Samsung 850 Evo (OS)
