Ahoy there,
I bought Kingston ssdnow uv400 240gb. It appears as raw in the disk management and when I try to format it I get the blue screen. The disk shows everywhere (disk management, device manager, my computer but without the volume since I can't allocate it without the blue screen).

This is the second copy of the ssd since the first one did the same thing. I tried to google for solutions but found none that helped. I'm at my wits end and any help would be much appreciated.

Below should be pictures of my computer and disk management if they are any help.

If you have a windows os setup and install dvd, or a boot able usb flash drive with a windows install and setup on it.

First of all go into the bios of your motherboard and for the Sata ports Select Ahci mode for the interface.

Place the boot able os dvd, in the dvd drive of the system, or the plug the usb flash drive with the boot able os install on it into a usb port of your system.

Run the windows install and setup.
When windows setup and install gets to the part of the setup where it asks you what drive you wish to install windows too.

Down to the right side select drive options.
Once you click on this you will see the new 240gb ssd drive you have connected to the system.

Click on it or hi light it with a mouse click from the main listing or display of drives found.
Then click on the format option.
Choose the type of formatting to apply to the drive.

Fat32, NTFS, or GPT.

NTFS will do though.

Format the drive.

Once done exit the windows installer, and setup by pressing escape and confirm you want to cancel the setup and installation.

Remove the windows setup dvd, or the boot able usb drive from the system that contains the windows setup and install of the os.

And restart the machine letting windows boot off the boot drive that already has windows installed on it as the working os.
When windows has finished loading, or you log into windows with a user account.
Click on file explorer and you will see the new 240Gb ssd drive with a drive letter assigned to it example D:

And then be able to read and write files to the drive ansunaattori.
any version of a boot able windows os will allow you to format the new SSD drive once you get to the point where it asks you where you want to install windows os to, and choosing the advanced drive options to format the new ssd drive then exit the windows install and setup process by pressing escape.

Just do not press next. once the drive has been formatted, hit the escape key instead ESC.

So you get a BSOD whenever you try to transfer data? In your original posting you've said that this is your second SSD this issue
Persists on. Based on that, I'm going to assume that the drives aren't the issue.

Assuming that the formatting has been done correctly, maybe the issue is with the SATA port itself. Have you tried moving it to another port?

Also, let me know if this issue occurs on your G drive ('laCie') as it might help me determine the problem.

Maybe some of our more-experienced members might have other ideas.

Keep me posted!

I tried with another port and different SATA cable, I was able the move some data for a short period of time before the BSOD. My G drive works fine and it's an external drive if this information helps.

EDIT: the loop of BSOD continues so I had to unplug the drive again
