Updating BIOS to cure BSODs?

Solution
the first thing id suggest before updating BIOS is to take off the OC and test your system at stock. Most BSOD's are a result of OC systems which haven't been tested for stability.

See how you go at stock, if it doesn't BSOD then you know it was done correctly the first time. Alot of BSODs are memory related, so that would be what I would look at next. You can test your mem with memtest (you can put it on a USB key and boot into the program)

after that, check and make sure all hardware is properly seated.

After exhausting all the other options, then you can look at a BIOS update (its not as scary as people think, providing they follow the manufacturers guidelines to a tee)

Yes, a BIOS update is a little scary to do, but if you have system instability, then you should go ahead and update the BIOS.

When you update the BIOS, make sure you don't do it in Windows. Do it through your UEFI bios.

The latest BIOS update version for the ASUS X79-Deluxe is Version 4805. You can find it here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X79DELUXE/HelpDesk_Download/

You should put the BIOS update file on a USB key. It must be formatted as FAT32 (not NTFS).

These ASUS support pages may help you:

Good luck!
