Hey!

I'm getting bluescreens sometimes after I installed my new RAM. My MOBO supports max 32G DDR 2133 MHz, but I bought 16G 2400 MHz DDR3 (which is more than what MOBO max supports). Is this the reason why I get bluescreen sometimes?

MOBO: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400MHz 16GB

Are you trying to add this to the old DRAM you had - if so may not even be compatible. What actual DRAM (model # - 4x4GB or 2x8GB?). Also what CPU? The DRAM should default to the mobos default, and unless running an 8350, 8370 or better, chances may be slim that you can even run these at 2400
could be many issues

could be your new memory mix well with your old memory (pull out old memory does it work fine if so then the timings are creating issues)

could be the new memory was really designed to work with intel memory controllers (no mention of amd on the info page)

could be a lot of issues.

you can try running manual timings and not using the xmp profiles.

bios versions are updated over time with new default memory timings
so check your currently installed version with the current version for your motherboard
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/HelpDesk_Download/

if you are out of date, install the new BIOS version. Then test your RAM timings by booting and running memtest86

check your motherboard manual to see which slot pairs to use for each set of ram. generally a slot pair is not right next to each other.
for example bank 0 and bank 2 might be a pair and bank 1 and 3 might be the other pair.
generally the slot closest to the cpu is the faster slot and the lower numbered pair.

also, check that the voltage for the RAM is correct.
if the ram fails memtest you often will have to go in and set the memory timings directly and test again with memtest86
(a failure with memtest does not always mean your RAM is bad)

- sometimes when you fully populate the memory slots, you are force to run the memory at a slower speed. Sometimes it will be specified in the manual. (or not)

Using an AMD FX-6300 Six-Core. Btw, when lowering MHz speed all the way down to 1,6k in bios, bluescreen stopped happening. Anything above 1,6k MHz in bios causes bluescreen
