Help setting up my new asus monitor

Its a vg248QE and I'm new to PC. The monitor came with a 2 power cables, one american and one british, a dvi cable and what seems to be an auxiliary cable. The ports on the monitor also show a port with a P symbol on it. Where do these wires go? And do i need a hdmi cable too as it has an hdmi slot?

It depends on the available ports on the graphics card.

You can connect the monitor either by using a DP to DP cable, or a HDMI one.

If you wish to use the 2 speakers, then HDMI is ok. If not, you can use DVI.

Yes, DVI, or HDMI, or DisplayPort. Only one. You can use the other ports if adding more monitors.

Practically, yes, but there are solutions like http://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/ that allow you to use more than 3 monitors.
However, for regular use you won't need more than 3, I guess.
