How much will a PCIe x16 3.0 GPU be bottleneck on a PCIe 1.0 x8 slot?

I am wondering if it is possible to put a Radeon RX 480 into a PCIe 1.0 x8 slot. BTW, the x8 slot has a x16 connector. I intend to use the card for GPU mining(feathercoin or ethereum). How much will the RX 480 be bottlenecked? There was a similar question, but it was about a PCIe 2.0 slot, so I do not believe this is a duplicate.

For mining it doesn't matter, a lot of miners end up even using x1 and x4 to x16 adapters. It is all done on the GPU and the results are sent back but are smaller. You don;t have to feed the GPU much data unlike in gaming where a lot of data is exchanged between the GPU, CPU, RAM and HDD/SSD.
