Hi,
I am thinking of buying a graphics card for PC Gaming.I want to use this card for at least 2 years, and so far I have considered gtx 970(Not sure about the variants),r9 380. Or are there any other cards in that price margin?I don't want to wait for the RX 280 to decrease its price point,or the gtx 1060.And even unsure if a Rx 480 is better than a gtx 970(msi,citrix or some other variant)?

Thanks in Advance:)

well... gtx 1060 will hit the store at 19 july, just 5 days... imo it will worth waiting

Well you looking at the gap right now. The way I see it:

RX-480 is $229 to $250 for 4GB & 8GB versions ( trades blows with the GTX 970)
GTX 970 is $260 to $350
R9-390 is $275 to $350
GTX 1060 maybe $250 to $300 we have to see what happens on the 19th.
GTX 1070 $399 to $545 it varies depending on availability and make and model.

I feel it's best for you to wait until after the 19th and see how the GTX 1060 launch affects these prices.

Yeah just found out that if I buy an MSI Radeon RX 480 8G (delivery to india from newegg),it will cost me around $350,(Actual price is 430$ in india). Now I feel as it stands, its better to wait for the price to drop further.

No point looking at last gen unless you get a massive discount. the rx480 is about gtx970 level, and the 1060 is gtx980 level, so its best to choose one of these.
As for pricing, it wont drop by much, by the time the prices drop, the gpus will be outdated.

I feel your pain. in malaysia, i just bought a gtx1070 for about $500, and it was the cheapest model, i see some reaching $600

Well the 1060 was a bit of a let down in my opinion. It never equals or best the 980 in the benchmarks I've seem. Looks like the 480 is sitting pretty, since the 1060 is weaker and more expensive than expected. How have price changed there since the release of the 1060 there?

Well the price of an rx 480(8 gb) and the gtx 1060 is almost same, because of shitty price of amd in India. The zotac gtx 1060 mini
is 342 dollars, with the zotac 1060 amp 360 dollars and sapphire rx 480(8 gb) is 360-380 dollars.

But I just learned that 1060 will not support sli(?),but the AMD does.So I was thinking maybe down the line I will crossfire AMD rx 480.I also learned that when you crossfire ,the vram amount remains same,so for now 4gb vram is enough but in future we might need more than that.So seems the rx 480 is the one.

I wish gtx 1060 had sli man....really..

Yep.If I try to save money, RX 480 4gb seems the right choice.Either that or I buy the bit more exensive gtx 1060 and later before upgrade will sell it off and get a new one.

I think 4gb VRAM is enough for two years in fture,so a 4gb rx 480 won't hurt.....What do u say?
