Hello everyone,

I'm here to ask, is it safe to overclock the Q8200 2,33 to atleast 2,6 2,7?? on these specs:
(I'm NOT asking for the tutorial, just is it safe)

Q8200 2,33GHz
Asus P5KS-E mobo
4GB DDR2
Msi Twin Frozr II GTX470 1280mb
LC Power LC600H-12 V2.31, PFC
1TB HDD

Solution
With the stock cooling I don't recommend changing the voltage, so that won't involve the PSU much.

But a 600W supply is adequate for overclocking. Not 100% sure on the quality, and given its age it may not be wise to take anything to extremes.

You should begin contemplating an upgrade, you managed to miss an entire generation of DDR and that is saying something. GTX470 also hasn't received the promised DX12 support, so newer games/game engines are not going to run on it.

Well, safe is relative. If you have adequate CPU cooling and the motherboard will take it (looks like it has some decent heatsinks) It shouldn't be too difficult to add a few hundred megahertz. If you do not adjust the voltage, the only risk is stability.

My budget is very low. I have the CPU since 3 months ago, the GTX470 1 month ago... So I'm always buying the older stuff. I've found some better coolers, and I'll think about that! Thank you very much for your support!
