Hi all

Just finished building my first PC however the internal CD/DVD drive isn't being recognised by the BIOS. It opens and closes so it works mechanically but just isn't showing up. I have an Asus H110M-A motherboard and have flashed it so it's fully updated. I've tried swapping the cables around however it changes nothing. Any help? Did I short the drive?

Solution
on the mb put the hard drive in port 0 and the cd crom in 1. on some of the newer mb if some features are on ports 3/4 can be disabled. check that there no bent pins on the data port of the cd rom.
on the newer efi bios the cd rom drive should only show up under cd rom drives under the boot menu, with the newer efi bios they dont use a logo for cd rom drives they have defaulted all to just place cd rom or efi rom ico unless you go into advance mode.

Interesting, however the problem I have is that it's showing up the SATA ports on the motherboard but not detecting the optical drive. I put it in SATA 4 next to my HDD and it just comes up blank on the BIOS.

Changing the ports worked, thanks so much.
