Yes it is compatible but it is recommended to go with a Z170 with an i5 6600k. An i5 6600k + Z170 combo is normally geared for overclocking. If you are not interested in overclocking than get an non-k cpu like the i5 6500 with a B150/H110/H170 motherboard.

I'm just on a budget that's all and the only reason the "K" version was my option was because it was the same price as a normal 6600 version on newegg ($20 off) so I figured why not. Wasn't really planning on overclocking. If this cpu works along with the mobo then great.
