What exactly is the difference between TLC and MLC?

MLC stores more than a single bit in a cell, meanwhile the TLC is cappable to three bits in a single cell.

In terms on the life time, MLC wins, mainly because the TLC is touching the cells constantly. But in real world, doesn't matter except we're talking about a decade of usage.

What is V-NAND TLC?

And would you recommend one of two above or this 250GB Samsung 750 Evo

nand and tlc are different things. so combine the 2 to understand what it is. tlc = 3 bits per cell and nand is how each sell is fed. v-nand is a new 3d version of nand. see here http://www.itproportal.com/2014/07/09/what-is-3d-v-nand-technology-and-why-should-you-care/

V-Nand, for Sansung is Vertical 3D nand, think of a donut,

I'm not sure what the MTBF is on the SanDisk models you listed. The Samsung 750 EVO MTBF is 1.5 Million Hours Reliability. The Samsung 750 EVO is a cut down and cheaper version of the Samsung 850 EVO it has a 3 year warranty vs the 850 EVO's MTBF of 2,000,000 hours and 5 year warranty. Not sure what the warranty is on the SanDisk models.

OK, speeds look pretty much the same, but looks like endurance on Samsung sucks:

Samsung 35TB vs SanDisk 109TB

For many of the "Best" reviews that Tom's does, it only covers models sent in for review by the manufactures. That is probably the same deal with their Best SSD review. So if the model you want compared to isn't always listed.

You know that link is concerning the 840 EVO not the 850 EVO or 750 EVO. This one paragraph says it all.
"That means we will amend our conclusion from a couple months ago. A Samsung 840 SSD with TLC memory is just as reliable as SSDs with MLC memory, and the type of memory should not be a reason to choose one SSD over another."

What I can tell you is Samsung is the most popular brand in the channel and has a very large market share. Intel is also popular but more with businesses than consumers. The rest or trying to catch them. Samsung makes everything for their SSDs themselves. Very few do that, SanDisk doesn't make their own controllers. Kingston doesn't make the Nand or the controller.

As far as TLC goes Samsung has been making it much longer than anyone, and has the most advanced controllers for it. If you want to go TLC then go Samsung. SanDisk is in transition right now this is the 1st month with them under WD. They have increased the majority of their prices and have lots of shortages. The models you 1st listed are older and not in my channel, so I don't know if they were affected. I sell more of the X400s and they all went up.
