Hello,

I am looking to build a new PC for around £800 excluding software. Below I have put together what I thought looked like a good setup, however, could you please point out any flaws and suggest any modifications.

Also, could you please suggest a mouse and keyboard.

This PC will be used for games such as Total War, Hearts of Iron and Farming Sim, plus for standard computing tasks such as watching videos and producing documents. I would like it to be upgradeable in the future so I won't have to fully replace it for a while.

Solution
1. No need for i7. Get i5.
2. Cryorig will give you a good overclock and save $$.
3. That GPU is worthless. Get a 950, ti'll play your games well.
4. Get 16gb RAM so you can have multiple applications n tabs open. Cost isn't much more than 8gb.
5. The G2 is a good version of PSU, and 550W is more than enough.
Here is my suggetion:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£221.99 @ Novatech)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H5 Universal 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler (£29.99 @ Ebuyer)
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£127.43 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory...
for an i7 of that range it is better to run a liquid cooler...however, for the tasks that u have mentioned, an i5-6600k wud suffice...use the saving on another hdd/sshd as that ssd capacity will run out soon...also a better video card maybe sumthing like a gtx 750ti or gtx 950...
also u shd consider ramping up the dram to 16gig(optional)...
also any keyboard/mouse shd do...

Ok, I will defiantly go with the i5 and get that graphics card as it seems very suited to what I need. Also, given the cooler you suggested is much cheaper that seems like a good option.

Is the motherboard I selected good? And is the power supply you suggested reliable?

1. That Asus Z710-A is an excellent mobo. No one will disagree, at that price range.
2. Here is a review of the PSU I linked. And it got the top score..http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=440
3. The 960 is better but for the games you listed u don't need real high end GPU, but if you are willing to spend more than get the 960 4gb.
4. You might want to add a 1TB HDD for movies and miscellaneous files or programs.
