Need to format the USB drive before I can use it

I recorded somrthing on TV and now I'm trying to watch it on my computer but it says that I need to format the flash drive before I can use it. I promised my friend I would record something for him and upload it on internet. PLEASE HELP ME!

TV probably uses some other format that your OS can't read.
