Hi, with my external HD case goes a power supply which is attached to a power socket, on it i can see "Output: 12v 2a *and lower* 5v 2a" What does this mean? And, if it is what i think, how does it switch between these two?
There are probably electronics inside the case to provide the 5V power. One external power supply would usually NOT provide two voltages, unless it's an extremely complicated supply and has an unusual connector.
