I made the mistake of buying a 600W PSU with only 1 6-pin connector for my GTX 760 (it needs 2) because I was in a rush.
What are my solutions to make it work? Are there any kind of adapters I can use? Am I exposed to any risks when using an adapter? Any disadvantages?
Buying a new PSU is out of the question for now because of a tight budget.

I used a junk PSU for my kids computer. had it laying around from an old build, figured what the heck. I got a splitter for the 6 pin. It worked for about 2 months then started to reboot when she would play the sims. I purchased a new PSU and it has been working great.

PS what type of PSU did you buy?

Well like SR-71 Blackbird and inerax were saying you may need to get a new PSU at some point....

But make sure to thoroughly check the box for your GTX 760, many GPU's come with a molex to 6-pin adapter... My old GTX 970 came with two (one 6-pin and one 8-pin). Every PSU I've ever seen has molex connectors so you would just plug the 4-pin into Molex and the 6-pin into your card. It's not AS good as two PCI-e 6-pins but it will work. A lot of people do that.

They look like this: https://www.amazon.com/4-Pin-Molex-Female-Adapter-Length/dp/B007NMSUUA

You can use that for the foreseeable future but if your PC ever shuts down in the middle of gaming, 9 times out of 10 your PSU is the issue and you'll need a new one. Just FYI.

If you get a new PSU, get a name brand 600w 80+ bronze certified, bare minimum. Read user reviews before you purchase it and you'll do fine. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
