I would definitely recommend a gaming desktop.
Gaming laptops are more expensive and perform considerably worse, so for real gaming you will be a lot more comfortble with a desktop.

Also, I don't recommend a pre-built system. It's a lot better (cheaper and higher quality) to build your own, and it is really easy.
If you tell us how much money you want to spend, we can tell you the best system possible.
