I suddenly lost sound on my Acer Aspire but I can see the meter moving in the Playback window. I've checked everywhere I could think of and it is not muted.

I ran chkdsk and no problems detected.

I recently did a large Win Update so I tried System Restore but it was unsuccessful, actually caused Blue Screen OD.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

1| Can you please pass on the make and model of your Acer unit inclusive of your OS?
2| Have you made sure you uninstalled and reinstalled your audio drivers? If the audio was functioning prior to the update then the drivers might have ended up corrupt or misappropriated.
3| Go into Device Manager and see if any devices are flagged with a yellow exclamation mark.
4| It'd help us if you could state your audio equipment since there are times where the front panel header on the chassis, or the headset or the speaker's power brick might've given out. The less factors you eliminate the easier it is to diagnose the issue. If you're getting sound from your headset then the speakers are dead.
