Im wondering what happens if I put my video card on a pci express slot rather than in the normal pci slot. Im just wondering if theres any difference at all.

Edit: PCI Express x16 vs PCI Express x4

Solution
x16 slot has 4 times the bandwidth of the x4 slot, assuming the same PCIe revision. Each generation more or less doubles the available bandwidth.

x8 is the minimum for Nvidia's SLI, but AMD allows 4x as a Crossfire option. Only the fastest GPUs would see a significant slow down in a 4x slot.

No real reason to give it a try though.

No modern graphics cards fit pci slots anymore.
Why would you want to do that?

Yes, there will be a difference.
Lower end cards will probably not be hurt much by X4.
Once you get to GTX970 class cards and higher the difference will be noticeable.
Look for benchmarks of the games you play and the card you are thinking of.
