Why does my Internet keep doing (or not doing) this specific set of things?

I have a specific set of problems that I can't seem to solve no matter what. My internet will disconnect every 30 minutes or so and will not reconnect unless I reset the router.

My phone/tablet will ONLY connect to the WiFi within 5 minutes (ish) of that reset. Even then when they have connected, only Facebook Messenger will work, no other internet using app will at all.

I cannot access the routers settings except within this 5 minute frame, any other time I try to, I time out. It is not limited to a specific device either, anyone who connects is the same.

This seemed to start around the time I enabled access control to prioritise my computer so that I could work. After I was finished, I disabled access control.

Is this a case of my router being tired? Or did I make a mistake when I enabled access control? I'd rather know if theres anything else I can do before splashing out on a new one only to have the same problem again.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest that you probably mis-configured the router and/or saved the changes at the wrong time.

Does not take much to mix up the router's configuration settings when attempting to manage QoS (Quality of Service) or otherwise prioritise something.

Most likely you will need to recover by doing a factory reset of the router.

Find the User Guide/Manual, do a factory reset per the manual, login with the default admin name and password. (They should be provided in the manual.)

If you do not have the manual find somewhere to go online where you can search for the manual and download it accordingly. Use your router's make and model to find the manual via the manufacturer's website.

Basically you are starting over as if the router was brand new.
