I just recently learned you can build your own PC, so I've been trying to make a part list for myself. I will mainly be gaming (Witcher 3, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, etc.), and I would like some opinions on my build. I don't know anything about computers, so I appreciate all suggestions and opinions on this build. If you think something on this build is stupid, please let me know. Thank you!

The first thing I noticed is that your motherboard doesn't have any rear usb 2.0 ports, which would be a nice thing to have. 6 usb 3.0 ports and no usb 2.0 isn't the best idea. I also found some slightly cheaper ram, but honestly you can just go for almost any ram you want. Just find the best deal at the time of purchase, make sure it has good reviews, and buy it. At a $1200 pricepoint, it wouldn't be too bad of an idea to consider spending a little bit more money and going with 16gb of ram, but 8gb will run any current game just fine. In addition, you might want to consider some better fans. A couple of cooler master air series quiet edition fans are not the worst thing to consider for $25 or so. Your wifi card is a little bit overkill...

In addition, you might want to consider some better fans. A couple of cooler master air series quiet edition fans are not the worst thing to consider for $25 or so. Your wifi card is a little bit overkill in my opinion. I get by just fine with a TP Link card i got at frys for $20 or so. $90 is a bit overkill in my opinion. The keyboard is also decently expensive for a wireless keyboard and no mouse. Unless you're dead set on a wireless keyboard due to cable management reasons or using it from far away, I'd recommend a wired keyboard and perhaps a wired mouse as well. The CM Storm Devastator bundle is not a bad choice for about $25. I'm also not sure if you need $100 speakers for gaming. You might want to put more of your money into a headset for that. There's a nice set of Logitech speakers for $50. My friend has them and he loves them.

Now, you may have noticed that I excluded the graphics card from my list so far. This is because I would highly recommend waiting until the release of the gtx 1060 and deciding if you'd like to go team red or team green (amd or nvidia). Once the 1060 is released, real-world benchmarks and stress testing come along with it. It has the potential to beat the rx 480 in the same price range. I'll go ahead and throw the 8gb rx 480 in the current build, but I wouldn't rule out the gtx 1060.

All of this considered, you didn't have such a bad build to start out with. It didn't seem to me that you had any kind of color scheme going (except maybe blue and black) so I kept the motherboard a neutral black and the ram a neutral grey. My revised version of your build comes in at $1141.93 if you buy all the parts from either newegg or amazon (assuming that you have prime). That's $100 lower! If you do not have prime, then you can go ahead and buy everything from newegg and its still in the $1100 range. Feel free to revise it to your needs and wants!
