Can I use a powerline extender connected to my fios router on one end, to output to a 5ghz router?

Solution
Yes it will. The wifi will be provided by a new router (set up as an access point) and is not depended on the Fios wifi. If you don't have one now, a mid priced AC router is the best value for the money.

The system will look like this. Fios--->powerline--->powerline---->accesspoint~~~~> wireless device.

This will work even though my fios router doesn't support 5Ghz right? Since I'm using a wired connection to the router. Sorry if I'm posting a follow up question wrong. I'm new here.
