Hi,

I have a slightly older PC with the following specs:
-GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H MOBO
-Core i5 3570K
-GSKILL 8GB DDR3 RAM
-CORSAIR FORCE 3 (primary drive for win7) and SAMSUNG EVO 840 (secondary drive for games)
-Sapphire 7950 GPU
-Asus VG248QE monitor

I realize BF1 specs aren't announced but I was hoping to start shopping for an upgrade or two. The only component I feel I need to upgrade is my GPU, which I bought for Battlefield 4 initially and delivered about 50-70 FPS in the game (ultra settings). I was interested in a GTX 970 or 980, ideally from EVGA. I would appreciate feedback on this setup and my proposed GPU upgrade. Would the configuration work without bottlenecking the GPU?

Thanks for any input.

As stated above, a GTX 1070 would probably be the best option for you, although you may want to consider upgrading to Windows 10 because Battlefield 4 runs horribly on W7 compared to 8 or 10, I used to get dips to 40-50 on 7 but when I upgraded to 10, I don't really dip below 100 at the same settings, I also tried reinstalling W7 to see if something else was causing it but it's just the fact that Windows 10 is much less demanding on the CPU.

Also, if it runs anything like BF4, the only reason you will drop under 144 fps is because of the CPU, I have the same issue on certain maps but it's hard to notice as it's not major.

My budget would be $350-450. I know the 980 would most-likely be out of this range. With ultra settings on I would like 70+ FPS. It would be nice to have 144fps but I think to achieve that with max settings, in such a graphics-intensive game, I would need to spend quite a bit of money.
