PSU Advice for this build. Bad to go over your recommended wattage?

Hey guys so here's my build

CPU: i7-6800k
MOBO: Asus X99-A II
CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX AiO Cooler
RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 16GB(4x4gb) DDR4 Quad Channel Kit
GPU: Asus Strix GTX 980ti 6gb
SSD: Samsung Evo 850 Series 250GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB
CASE: NZXT H440

Want to get a modular PSU so i can customize the cable colors
I have pretty noobish knowledge on this but I know a 750W is pretty good already

But the thing is I may add another GPU into the mix later on along with 4 more sticks of ram.

Would it be okay to get a PSU now which can accommodate the future upgrades?
And what wattage would you guys recommend and specific model?

Thank you!

  1. 750w is more than enough for those parts. There is nothing wrong with getting a psu that's overpowered for your build.

I recommend the EVGA G2 750w. I also think the GTX1070 could potentially be a better buy than the 980ti.
  2. Gtx1070 sli recommended psu is 700w. 980ti is 850w. So unless there is strong consideration for sli on the 980ti, best bet is still a good 750w but use a 1070 instead of a 980ti. Also to consider is the latest DX12 installment which uses upgraded software that's available only for the 1000 series nvidia and GCN 1.1 amd cards and not available in 900 series or earlier cards. It was just released for the new Tomb Raider, and makes a visible difference.

Unfortunately i already purchased a 980ti way before the Pascal architecture was revealed :( (I know i've been dreading over it)

Am thinking i'll probably just purchase the 1080ti when it comes out and have a multi-GPU with the 980ti set up to my rig since there has been news about support for non identical gpu cross setups.

Guess will go for 850w then :) since there shouldnt be any consequences for having a higher wattage psu for what's needed. Atleast therell be room for overclocking

Well the 980ti is still awesome so no worries there.
