I just built a new computer with the following components:
The sound coming from the motherboard is NOT an error message type sound. I know this because I know what error message sounds should sound like.
It is more of a "tinnitus" type sine wave sound. If you use this site: http://onlinetonegenerator.com/ and put in "10 000 Hz" you get the idea of what it sounds like. Very bright, thin, faint, high pitched continuous sound.
I have tried changing out the PSU with an Antech neopower 650 (that I know works) but the sound still comes from the motherboard, so at least I can rule out a defect PSU as the cause. Unfortunately there is no way for me to test the CPU or RAM for problems because I am not able to boot the system or get into BIOS.
What could be causing this sound and how can I get the system to actually boot? I have triple checked all connections, disassembled and reassembled the system twice. This is the fourth time I am building a computer and I have not heard of this problem before. Please help me out guys.
