Hi,
Recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 990 Mini-Tower, hoping to make a decent gaming PC out of. I'm looking to add the R9 390 GPU to it. I think that I also will need to upgrade the PSU (Currently 265W) to something bigger, along with upgrading the RAM from 4 to 8GB.

The Specs for the PC will be as followed:

i7-2600 3.4 GHZ CPU
XFX Double Dissipation OC R9 390 GPU
Some PSU between 650 to 750W

Just a few questions, as I am relatively new to building PCs (Never upgraded a PSU):

1. Will any ATX PSU work? How easy/hard would the installation be?
2. When getting RAM, could I add a 4GB stick into the seperate port (the black port instead of the white one), or is it easier to just get 2 sticks of 4GB RAM?
3. After installing the PSU, do I just plug in the GPU? With my SFF I installed the GTX 750 TI into a PCI E slot with ease and only had to change a setting in the BIOS. Will the installation be easy? Will there be any problems with the R9 390 in the PC?

Thanks.

1. not any ATX PSU will work(see 3). Get a good one: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/nB3RsY/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii620bronze as the 390 is power hungry.(yes, 620W is enough if it's a good PSU)
2. It's better to get a 2x4 kit to ensure dual channel operation
3. With this GPU, the only additional step is that you have to plug one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCIE power cables from teh PSU to the card(the PSU i linked has teh required cables)

Thanks for the quick response. How can I tell what PSU will work? Would the CX750M work?

The CXs are bad. Get the one i linked as i've already done the "homework" for you. That seasonic is great value for money and one of the cheapest you could get that's good.

But, if you want to do your own research, while not perferct, this PSU tier list is a good starting poing: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Thanks again, I'm on a fairly tight budget, and in Australia that PSU goes for $130 AUD (100 USD) or more. Any suggestions for a cheaper one?
