Hi there, I just finished a new PC and while I can use the mouse and keyboard, nothing else picks up. USB drive doesn't get recognized, nor does my phone, nor does an ethernet cable. I'm assuming this is for want of drivers, but I currently have no way of updating them. I even tried connecting my pc and my friend's pc through ethernet to no avail. So before I get desperate and try to hook our two computers up sata to sata, do you guys have any ideas on what I might do to update my drivers or if there's a different problem that might be occurring?

Thanks a bunch

Oh, and I've got a MSIZ170A LGA1151 mobo if that helps

Try a USB 2.0 port.

you can try using your primary USB ports, you should have a couple that work by default, for me, when I do a clean install my two front ones work but the 8 on the back do not until I get drivers, another option is you can try a CD to install them, other then that I can only think of using another HDD or moving yours to another computer, sorry I'm not that experienced but these are the only solutions I know of, you can also check your bios and make sure that USB boot is enabled, because you can have USBs disabled with fast boot on, this will disable your Usbs, also how is your keyboard and mouse working if the USBs aren't? Try plugging it in where the keyboard is plugged into then using your mouse and an onscreen keyboard to get the rest of your drivers, GL hope I somehow helped lol

Windows 7 is still installed on my hard drive which I carried over from my last computer, but for some reason it says it's not a legitimate copy (it should be-got it from the school tech store). I was going to update to Windows 10 when I could

Then this might be an issue. Can you reinstall?

So I've tried the USB 2.0 ports on the front, and again, nothing. I plugged my mouse in, just to make sure the ports are connected, and sure enough, I can use my mouse. But no USB drive connection

So I was going to install Windows 10, but is it just me, or is the website where you can download the iso down? Nevertheless, when I am able to put it on a drive, will this format my hard drive or will I retain my data?
