Third SSD keeps disappearing

Desktop PC had two SSDs and one standard hard drive, which held data. PC failed and would not reboot until I removed the standard hard drive, so I presumed hard drive failure. Replaced it with another SSD, Intel 540S. It installed fine, but then it disappeared several hours later. I changed out the SATA cord and then the power cord. When neither worked, I changed the drive designations, but that step did not work either. It still appears, works fine, but then hours later goes away. If I unplug the power to the SSD, plug it back in, and then reboot, it is recognized again for a few hours. I am at a complete loss as to what could possibly be causing the problem. Any ideas?

Everywhere. When I unplug the power connector to the SSD and then replug it, it magically reappears -- for a few hours anyway.

Yes, I did. I changed the power connectors on the second and third SSDs and the third one still disappeared, even with the power connector that works just fine on the second drive.

I have the same issue as you with Intel SSD 540S Series 480gb-Brand New One it keeps disappearing or disconnecting whenever it wants and it disappears from BIOS as well I already went to computer shop where I bought it from and they replaced me for new one and it is still happening the same. Tomorrow I am going again toa sk them to see what is happening and why is this happening I also have Patriot SSD and I don't have this issue with it, it must have some technology this Intel SSD which they really screw up that it keeps disconnecting...

It is the motherboard issue I found out today and I have the same issue as you with Intel SSD . I went today to computer shop where I bought it and they've sent it to AsRock that will teach me never to buy ASRock motherboards again and it is only 5 months old...
