I have a Acer 5750 6667 with a i3 2330m cpu. This is a hm65 socket and so is the i7 2630qm. So when I install the I7 into the laptop, it only turns on for about 5 seconds and the screen remains black. When I installed the i3 back in the laptop again it works. The only possible solutions I could think of or this problem is the cpu isn't compatible with the mobo or bios somehow or it's just a bad cpu.
I have now updated the BIOS to the latest version on the acer website, still doesn't work

Solution
I'd imagine the problem lies with the 2630QM's TDP, which is 45W versus the i3's 35W. Your BIOS probably rejects the CPU to avoid causing thermal or electrical problems from drawing too much current. A Core i7-2640M should work; I couldn't find any info on whether Ivy Bridge is supported by the chipset/BIOS but if they are a Core i7-3632QM would do nicely as well.
