MSI GTX 1070 seahawk X vs Gigabyte GTX 1070 extreme

Hello, I am trying to decide between these two graphics cards for my computer. The gigabyte has higher core clock (1695 vs 1607) and boost clock (1898 vs 1797) but the seahawk has water cooling and is 50 dollars more.

I know it isn't a completely fair comparison because one is air cooled and the other is water cooled but is the 50 dollars worth water cooling at the cost of slightly lower clock speeds? What are your thoughts/what would you buy?

Out of the box they probably both run 1950 to 2000 boost clock. I would get the cheaper air cooled card. The seahawk might run cooler but you aren't going to get a massive overclock from the watercooler on pascal.

Isn't the Seahawk that water-cooled version? Makes no sense as Pascal is pretty limited clock-wise, I run mine at 1050mhz at 34c up to 60c (MSI Armor X) These chips run cool so no reason for water-cooling. Have no clue why the crazy water-clock versions are offered...you won't beat air coolers anyway, heat isn't an issue.

The 1070 Seahawk is pretty pointless. You don't need the water cooling on a 1070. If you had a 1080 and decided to flash a new BIOS and unlock voltages then water cooling may be a viable option but the 1070 runs cool enough and likely won't even need water cooling if you pumped more voltage. You would become unstable before overheating. Go ahead and get the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-... or any other aftermarket air cooled model you want. They are all pretty good.
