Hello everyone.

Today i just got my new computer with the following:

- Asus H170 Pro Gaming
- i5 6600
- G.Skill Aegis 16GB (2x8GB) 2133mhz
- Corsair RMX 750
- Asus 1070 Strix Aura

The problem is... The PC doesn't boot up with both sticks of RAM at the same time, it only boots up with one.

I've already tried both sticks alone on every RAM slot and always boots up... But if use both stick, whatever their positions, it just doesn't boot up.

I tried updating the BIOS wich was on a very older version of that Mobo and still nothing.

Some clues on what might be? A faulty Mobo?

Best regards.

The likely cause is due to where, or in what order you have the two ram sticks placed in the memory slots of the motherboard.

If you have a matched pair of ram modules of 2 x8gb configuration. and four memory slots on the motherboard.
Take a close look at the motherboard manual.

It always states what two memory slots the ram sticks must be placed in for the first set or ram modules fitted to the motherboard in a dual memory mode configuration.

If you place the ram sticks in the wrong positions other than is what initially stated in the motherboard manual it will result in the board not booting when the two memory sticks are fitted.

They must be placed in the correct two slot positions.

interesting... i had the same build as you (motherboard, 6500, gskill memory) for my girlfriend. lol

as to answer your question,
i would contact asus about their motherboard and probably get an RMA considering that you tried alternating each stick one by one.

as for me, my asus h170 worked xD sorry bout your case :'(

The RAM's are on the correct position. I've even tried A1-B1 and the correct one A2-B2, it's not the first time i build a computer with this motherboard, and it's the first time i get such a stupid situation.

I know your feel bro. To be fair, I've come across that 1 to 5% of getting defective hardware, like a dead seagate hard drive after 2 years, a non operating 7870 after 3 years, etc. Human error is not surprising - enjoy asus' RMA!

-p.s. My experience took at least a month and a half with my 7870. got a 7950 out of it which died 3 weeks later, and i RMA'd a second time, and got a 7950 v2 lol. Now, if you complain to your retailer, amazon or newegg, perhaps they can give you a new exchange :)

I hope that's it because it'll be a simple cheap fix, even if your ship hits you with a restock fee. Certainly easier than having to re-sit a cpu and heatsink on a new board. Also, I've always been a slave to the QVL list but secretly felt I'm probably being overly cautious.
