Does any Motherboard work with a Intel I7 cpu?

Hi I am building my own PC. I am wondering if any motherboard will be compatible with an Intel Core i7 CPU? And is it a good CPU? Also does it matter what GPU you get with the I7?

No it needs to be the right socket, which i7 are you looking at? The actual name will be something like i7 4790 or i7 6700k they gave made dozens of them over the years so I cant tell you what kind of board you need

Both motherboards and CPUs have corresponding sockets which have to match for them to be compatible. For example h97/z97 motherboards have an 1150 socket and they need a 4th gen cpu. 1151 socket mobos need a 6th gen cpu and so on. Which processor in particular are you referring to when saying "i7"?
