I'm planning on doing an upgrade from a Gigabyte ga970ud3 Mobo with an fx 6100 cpu to an msi z170 Mobo and an i7 6700k. I'm wondering if I will have to reinstall Windows 8.1 or will I just replace the hardware, turn on the machine and it will run. About a year ago I replaced the Mobo with the same model after it got fried, which worked well and I just got the Windows activation pop up every once and a while. Is there any prep work considering it's going from AMD to Intel or is it as easy as just replacing the hardware? I've seen a few posts on this topic but a lot are about Windows 7, and some people have said its different and easier on Windows 8/8.1
