I play CS:GO and get around 80 fps with my Core 2 duo e4600 and I wonder if I get more FPS if I upgrade to core i series quad core cpu.

My specs:
C2D @2.4 hz
GTS 250

Will new CPU increase more FPS?

u just cant go around upgrading the cpu without checking the compatibility with ur motherboard...the core2 duo motherboards have different socket architecture than i cores...ur cpu can still support a card like gt 730 or gtx 750ti, which can improve ur fps...
and that gpu is old...

I want to upgrade to GTX 950 and I think that it will bottleneck my CPU. GT 730 is a really weak card compare to GTS 250, sorry.

And upgrade GPU will be no gain of FPS because of the bottlenecking with CPU. I don't want to put in "Upgrade motherboard" in the title because some people are not that good at hardware and will ignore my question.

I know what I'm doing but I'm just curious that whether the CPU play a role in FPS and gaming. I already have a good 100$ 750w psu. I just wondering if CPU does increase the FPS of the game.(Without bottle necking)
