Hi everyone,
Recently I installed a new GTX 1080 into my system hoping to get much better performance when compared to my aging 960. After installation I noticed that there was an increase of FPS across the board in all games however I still seem to be getting lower performance when compared to other people. What I mean is when compared to to other benchmarks on the internet I seem to have 50 to 60 less FPS compared to others. I am stuck here wondering if anything is causing a bottleneck on my end or if some settings need to be tweeked, either way I appreciate any help to my problem.
Examples :
BF4 @ 1080p
Online Avg.= 180-200 FPS
My Avg.=150-180 FPS

BF4 @1440p
Online Avg.=150-130 FPS
My Avg.= 125-90 FPS

Fallout 4 @ 1080p
Online Avg. 150-100 FPs
My. Avg.= 80-45 FPS

System Specs:
CPU: i7-3820 @ 3.6
Memory: 16GB
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 SC
Hard Drive: 2TB
Thanks

^ could be, but would be surprised. That i7 can go to 3.8 on turbo which should be enough raw clock speed. But yes, if comparing to a top end i7 now, that could be why.

OP - if you have 3dmark, see what you get for GPU scores. that will rule out something wrong with gpu/drivers.

its just your CPU. Fallout 4 is cpu heavy and if you are looking at benchmarks from a overclocked 6700k which is 45% faster then your stock 3820 you would see a difference.

It might be driver or in-game settings. When many people say they "maxed out" a game, that often doesn't mean they're running max anti-aliasing, and might even have another setting or two turned down.

If lowering graphical settings improves your framerates, your CPU is not at fault.
