6700k vs 6700 non K temps

Recently I built my girlfriend a PC due to the cheap parts I got off my buddy. I gave her my i7 6700 non K, and I have purchased a 6700K* for myself. The non K was very cool temp wise and ran games really well even though it had no overclocking capabilities.
Temps in games like GTA 5 would hover around 39-44C with my Corsair H100i GTX.
The new CPU I just put in is a little different. I cleaned the block and applied proper thermal paste and temps seem to be much higher while gaming. GTA 5 was around 55 and sometimes above.
I have not overlclocked the cpu, but was planning on it. Do these temps sound right for this chip? why is the nonK so much cooler?
I use MSI afterburner and I have changed the read speed from 1000 to 2000
on Idle the computer goes from 30-40c depending on what I have opened, in firestrike I saw it hovering around 45c up to 65c in the CPU stress test.
Should I worry about this? maybe redo the thermal paste and remount the cooler?
Thanks guys

Modern Intel CPUs will not throttle until 100c, and will not shut down to prevent damage until 130c. I would not be concerned even with 80c temps, personally. I also think the watercooler is unnecessary, and I probably would not have gone with one because of the risks they pose with leaks and pump failures.

The non-K CPU has a TDP of 65w, while the K CPU has a TDP of 95w. Even though the 6700K only turbos 200mhz higher, that clockspeed is outside of the ideal range when Intel was designing the CPU, causing voltage (and therefore temperature) to go up exponentially.

Here's a clockspeed vs wattage graph for the CPU in my signature:

Note that because we have different CPUs, your graph will be...

You have no need to worry. Most CPUs nowadays will get past 50 degrees C whilst gaming, in fact you are pretty lucky if your CPU stays under 50 under load :)

My CPU (Intel i5-4690K) has been overclocked to 4.5Ghz and I still use the Intel stock cooler (not the best I know) but my load temperatures whilst gaming is between 55- 62 degrees C and 30-45 @ idle.

Those temperatures are to be expected whilst gaming and CPUs can usually go up to 70 ish degrees C without much of an issue.

Note that because we have different CPUs, your graph will be slightly different, but the stock speed for the 6700K would be pretty far to the right side of the graph, where even a small increase in frequency equals a large increase in heat output.

Yeah 80 degrees is usually fine but I try to keep mine under 70 :) Also nice graph and description....

I would personally only watercool to make my PC build look amazing, other than that there's no real reason to watercool anything. Custom loops in my opinion look amazing and in the future I plan to make plenty of builds with custom loops in.

any reason why it spikes so much? my older cpu wouldnt ever have crazy 50-68 types of jumps. I did the asus OC in bios and i saw temps like 75c spikes on gta v just moments ago. I set the bios back to default. I am going to redo the paste and see what happens.
