Can't change voltage (Asus P8v77 Deluxe)

Hello,

I am overclocking my i7 3770K and I am confused by the voltage. No matter what I set my manual voltage to in AI Tuner (either above or below 1.20), it doesn't seem to actually change. CpuZ and HW Monitor both report CPU voltage of 1.20 or very close to it no matter what I change my voltage to manually - I've gone as low as 1.18 and it still reports 1.20. What am I missing? Thanks.

Thanks, that helps. I know it down-clocks to 1600 Mhz when idle, so does the voltage stay high even with that reduced idle clock?

I will try with the offset. Does the offset just allow it to drop to whatever negative offset I specify? Or is it a permanent value?

I'm at 4.5 Ghz right now and 1.20v and temps don't go above 70C with the Noctua NH-D15 so I'll probably try for a little more.

With manual voltage, even at 1600mhz, the voltage would be the same. There are some low power states that will allow voltage to lower, but you'll still spend more time at high voltage with manual voltage.

Offset just adds or subtracts voltage from Intel's stock voltage table. This is a chart I made of the voltage table at various speeds with the CPU in my signature:

^ A negative or positive offset would move the line down or up, but keep the shape of the line the same.

1.20v is excellent for that clockspeed with that CPU, and 70c is a great temperature.

Well I think I am at 1.20V....I'm HW monitor, the VID varies between min 0.86v and max 1.23v. Then CPU V CORE says min 1.20V max 1.23V, even though I have manual voltage set at 1.20 in the bios. I guess what's been confusing me is that no matter what I set manual voltage to, it still does it's own thing at least as far as I can tell.

I haven't done any crazy stress testing but in CPU-Z I hit "stress CPU" and let it run for a few mins. Highest temperature I saw was 70C on one core, the rest were mid 60C. When gaming the temps are all around 60C. My primary use is photo editing though.
