Hello.

I recently bought a new gaming desktop. The Lenovo ideacentre y700-34. My variant has the gtx 960, i5-6400 and 8gb of ddr4 ram. I watched this video where they review the same desktop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Qb2LzxkdU

I noticed that my benchmark results in 3dmark are lower than in the video. For example in the skydiver benchmark i got a score of 16200 while in the video the score was over 17000. I noticed that this was because my physics score was lower than in the video, otherwise my score would have been the same. Now my variant of the desktop doesnt have a ssd, but all other components should be the same. could that be the reason for my lower benchmark scores? or is there something wrong with my cpu?

Solution
There are a number of tweaks and things you can do that will affect the score, even on identical PC's. I would suggest reading up on some these tips and also ensuring you have the latest Bios and drivers. Also check to see that your CPU an GPU temperatures are normal and you don't have a lot of processes going on in the background.

Thanks for quick reply. I believe the pc in the video was running on stock settings as the viedo is a review. And i believe the physics test in 3dmark is for the cpu. And my cpu performance score was lower in the geekbench benchmark aswell.

Temps are fine about 40-50C and fan speed is around 50 percent. But my cpu seems to run at 2,7 ghz and doesnt really turbo boost to 3,3. Is that normal?

Only one core will run at 3.2 Turboboost when load demands. Not sure why it wouldn't run at that speed unless possibly limited by by a Bios setting. You might check there and make sure in your power plan it's set to High Performance and max CPU is set to 100 percent.

Woops accidentally downvoted this, sorry about that :D I was actually supposed to pick this as the solution. I tweaked the bios and set my power plan to high performance and it helped. Thank you for your assistance :)
