Looking for a new motherboard. I previously had a z97-A USB 3.1 in which I had to to RMA once and now has failing usb ports. I don't want to RMA for a second time, I would rather just get a new board.

I was looking at a lot of the top tier boards like AsRock extreme 9 and Gigabyte z97x gaming G1 but they seem to be out of production and not readily available. Unfortunately the ones that are available are obscenely priced.

I do not want to upgrade to a whole new platform because my i74790k has treated me very kindly and is still in great working condition.

What other suggestions would you recommend for a motherboard? Money is not the issue but I'm not paying $500+ for a board that was originally MSRP at $200 to $300.

Could you elaborate on the Hero board? I know it's an Asus board but what is the full title?

I've looked at this board too, but it has the same problem like the other high end boards. Brand new people are selling the boards for $500 or more... I just wish they would be more reasonable because I do like the Maximus Hero board. Do you know of an online retailer that would sell this at a more reasonable price? You would definitely get picked as the solution :)

First off I would like to thank you for your replies, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Is there a big difference in performance between the Pro gamer and the Maximus hero?

I found a very reasonably priced Maximus Hero VII in which the item was in "Like New" condition. I'm a little skeptical since the price for it is amazing compared to other sellers so I emailed them and asked for more detail. Otherwise the Hero will be my next board of choice! Thank you for your time!

I received the new board today. The seller didn't lie, it is practically brand new with no scratches or unsightly damage! I carefully installed my new baby and everything started up great! The mobo is very aesthetically pleasing and I couldn't be happier! Now hopefully it will remain in working order as I've been reading some horror stories about these boards going bad within a year. I have a good feeling though that this mobo is sound. I'm just astounded that I found this board for a great price. Thank you Tradesman1 for your suggestion, I'll be looking forward to overclocking my 4790k soon :)
