Hi,
i dont know if this is the right forum for this, but i need help.
So i recently bought a new Lenovo U41-70 Laptop with an i3 and a 128gb ssd and thought it would be a good idea to install debian on it since i only need it for my studies etc. Turns out im not that experienced in handling computery things and would be better off with windows, but now i cant get the laptop to accept my usb boot stick. Thats the exact same stick i used for the linux installation (my laptop doesnt have a cd reader). I unwrapped the win7 64 bit home premium Edition on my Windows computer with winrar and shoved the data on my formated stick. Than i sticked it in my laptop, went into bios and checked if legacy support was still on (it was) and if usb was still the first priority boot device (it was) and continued booting. But all it did was bring me to the GRUB and showing me the option to boot either debian or FreeDos.
What did i wrong?

Solution
Just "shoving" files on the USB disk might not be enough to create bootable installation media. Microsoft used to have a tool for Windows 7, and a lot of people recommend third-party tools like this one

Hi,
so apparently that did the trick. However i got a few errors flying while trying to set up the usb, because i used this acronis backup software. But as soosn as i uninstalled it, my problems were gone and now i can boot from my usb.

THANKS!
