The GTX 745 is by no means a hardcore gaming card, and i want to upgrade it desperately, i was hoping asking on here i will get a straight forward answer.
I want to upgrade my alienware x51 r2 to a GTX 750TI 2GB, but i want some more insight before i go off and blow stuff up, my specs are
Windows 8.1
I7-4790
GTX 745
8gb Ddr3 ram
and the dreadful 240w external power brick,

Am i able to upgrade to a gtx 750ti?

GTX 745 consume 55w according to nvidia official spec:
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-745-oem/specifications

that is the same as GTX750 (non Ti):
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750/specifications

GTX750Ti was rated at 60w. 5 watt more than GTX750.

i think 750Ti probably able to work on your X51 R2 but make sure you get the one without 6 pin power connector. because some cards with 6 pin will not boot up unless you connect the power connector even if the card did not consume more than 75w.

if you willing to wait maybe you want to wait for AMD RX 460. most likely faster than 750Ti while consuming around...
