shock from headset might be killing my computer! help me please

can someone please give me advice on my problem my g230 headset has been acting weird i have a carpet floor that i lay it on but when using it sometimes i pick up the cord because it becomes coiled and straighten it but today when i did the cord shocked me and the tv i use flickered black but the headset still works logitech has told me to checkout the ports of my computer that i use audio for but the computer still works note that sometimes when i start my computer ventrilo lags when opening and says my device stops sending sound then i have to reset it and it works i had this computer for almost 4yrs is it time to upgrade or should i stop laying my headphones on carpet?
 
Solution
1) Stop putting headphones where you have static
2) Consider a hardwood panel for your computer area
3) Get a banana hanger for your headphones (or dedicated headphone hanger, though I find banana ones tend to be much cheaper and much better looking)
